WHY WORK WITH ME
DEI Subject Matter Expert
To be an effective DEI leader requires subject matter knowledge, perseverence, highly effective influencing skills and a real passion to bring about impactful change. The specialist knowledge required cannot be underestimated. Such knowledge includes amongst other things, legal awareness, how to create culture change, how to measure the effectiveness of interventions, in-depth awareness of the challenges faced by underrepresented groups, an awareness of how people strategy and a DEI strategy aligns to overall organisation strategy, how to clearly communicate to different stakeholders. Acquiring these skills take time and experience. Partnering with me gives you access to these skills and more.
International People Leader
As an international people leader, I am committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where colleagues feel a strong sense of belonging and are set up for success across the globe. My HR skills allow me to understand how people processes, systems and policies need to change to create inclusive cultures. In addition, I am well-equipped to build robust talent pipelines and leadership capability.
Coaching Skills
My lived experience and coaching accreditation allows me to coach within a larger context of culture, religious belief, class and socioeconomic realities, not just the content of their coaching scenario or issue. Although I am able to coach anyone who needs to unlock their potential, I have a specialist skill in coaching women and ethnically diverse individuals because I understand them more deeply. Many of these individuals specifically seeks a coach who will understand their perspective on the world.
Relevant Lived Experience
Lived experience of being a member of an underrepresented group is not a qualification on its own to effectively undertake DEI work. However, it can certainly help.
As an Asian woman, and working mother, I have seen and experienced the negative organisational and personal barriers that limit the progress of many women and individuals from underrepresented groups and have a strong desire to change the story.
My parents are immigrants to the UK and have carved out a successful life through good education and hard work. My mother was a GP with her own practice. She overcame so many obstacles, culturally and professionally. She is a constant reminder to me of what is possible and what still needs to be done. My aim is for individuals to achieve great things in their workplace, their communities and their home but also flourish as individuals with their health and wellbeing intact.
Understanding these challenges and (for the most part!) overcoming them, allows me to empathetically and authentically partner with organisations and invididuals to guide them in the right direction for success.
